What can go wrong with my website?

BUGS
Bugs are programming errors. They often make a page or function of your website not work at all, or work incorrectly.

If you discover a bug and let us know, we'll fix it ASAP, usually within a few hours, at no cost to you.

CONFIGURATION ERRORS
The site settings are full of options that control how the site will function. The settings that come with the default site may be different from how you envision the site working.

For example, you may not want appraisers to be able to edit orders, but if the site setting for appraiser order editing is set to allow them to edit orders, then they'll be able to. This isn't a bug, but a site setting that isn't set the way you want it. We'll help you get the site settings down to your specifications.

BROWSER ISSUES
The browser is the piece of software you use to view the web. Popular ones include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera. Different browsers have different capabilities. For example, a browser on your cell phone may not be able to display very much. Internet Explorer 6, made in 2001, has vastly fewer capabilities than version 8, made in 2009.

Valued Websites packages are made to function best in the latest version of the browsers listed in the preceding paragraphs. If you're having some strange issue pop up, it's worth checking whether you have the latest version of one of these browsers.

A lot of the high-tech features of the website require that JavaScript be enabled in your browser. An exception to this is if you have to use an old browser (such as Internet Explorer 6) or less popular browser (such as on a cell phone). In this case, it might actually help things to turn off JavaScript.

SERVER ISSUES
The server is the computer that your website is stored on. Like all computers, servers sometimes malfunction. Hard drives or other computer parts die.

Your site files are regularly backed up, the servers are constantly monitored for impending doom, and in the extremely rare case of a catastrophic server failure, a replacement server will be up and running within a couple of hours or less, and your data will be restored. ISP ISSUES
Your internet service provider (ISP) will sometimes have issues. It's your responsibility to make sure your internet is in working order on your end.

Always use anti-virus and firewall software, use the most up-to-date version of your browser, and things should be fine on this front.
