What to do next after you get your website.

Now that you have your ValuedPRO or ValuedAMC website, please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with it. Here are the first steps:

1. Login to the admin

  • The web address (URL) where you can login to your website is always www.yourwebsite.com/a (note that /a at the end). Be sure to replace yourwebsite.com with your actual website's domain name.
  • The initial username is admin and the password is valued, both lower case.
  • Once logged in, notice that the page is split into the navigation and other functions at left, and the main area where you change the settings or look at or enter info at right.
  • Wherever you see a question mark symbol (?), you should point at it for further information.
  • The navigation sections are expandable/collapsible if you click the triangles (^v).

2. Change the admin password.

  • Login to the admin, if you're not already.
  • Click on the My Info link at top right.
  • Enter new information in every field you see then submit the form. Write down your new password somewhere safe.
  • Email us and tell us your new admin password.

3. Add appraisers.

Appraiser accounts only lets appraisers see orders that have been assigned to them, and it may or may not allow them to do other things depending on how the permissions (see next section) are set.

If there is only one appraiser in your company (you), you should still create an Appraiser account for yourself separate from your admin account.

  • Go to Manage Users in the left-hand navigation area, then in the Appraisers section, click on Manage.
  • There will be one or more default appraisers listed. Click the Edit link for each, and update the information in the next page, then submit the form.
  • If you want to add more appraiser accounts, just click the Add link in the Manage Users / Appraisers navigation area. Each appraiser will get an email telling them what their username and password is.

Appraisers can also add themselves.

4. Add clients.

You can do this step now or wait until later.

  • Go to Manage Users in the left-hand navigation area, then in the Clients section, click on Add.
  • Fill in the information and submit the form. The client will be sent an email to tell them their username and password. Be sure the client knows they'll be getting this email, or else it might go straight to their circular file.

Clients can also add themselves.

5. Review your website's content and site options.

At the very bottom of the left-hand navigation is the Site Setup area. Go through each of the options under both the PAGE CONTENT and OTHER INFO sections and make sure they're to your liking. Start by clicking on the Manage Pages link and work your way down through to Misc Site Options.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to review the automated emails at Site Setup > Email Messages.

Don't worry too much if you don't understand everything, and don't worry about making everything perfect. When you're done entering your content, Valued Websites can go through every page and spiff it up for you. Or if you prefer, send Valued Websites the content to be input for you.

6. Set up your custom email address(es).

Please see this article on how to set up your custom email address(es).

7. Summary

  • It would probably be a good idea to click on every link in the left-hand navigation so you get a sense of what's available.
  • Create some test orders using the admin options or by submitting the website's order form, and play with these orders.
  • Then when you're satisfied, delete all the fake orders, fake clients, fake appraisers and what not.
  • Be sure that any pages you don't want displayed in the public website have their Page Display field set correctly.

Once all this is set up, you can start telling your clients about your site. If you have friends or colleagues with websites, ask them to link to yours. This helps with search engine rankings.
