Site Options That Cost Extra

While our website packages work perfectly well out of the box (and include hosting), you may require some of the options listed below:

>  Clients Paying Online / Internet Merchant Account

If you want to allow clients to pay online, you'll need to set up either an Authorize.net, PayPal, and/or Mal's Ecommerce account. These are all free for clients to use.

Authorize.net takes the most setting up on your part, but is your best choice for tight integration with the website and a professional look for clients. Contact Valued Websites to set up Authorize.net and there will be no setup fee and monthly charge will only be $10 (normally $99 setup and $28/month). You'll also need a $125/year "SSL security certificate" and "dedicated IP," both of which Valued Websites will provide.

PayPal takes around a 3% cut of each transaction. The upside to PayPal is that it's very quick and easy to sign up for.

Mal's allows you to use your existing merchant account. It comes with a free version and a $96/year version which allows you to customize its look a little more than the free version. If you already have a merchant account and wish to keep it, this option might be best.

PayPal and Mal's are not as tightly integrated with the website as Authorize.net. This means that when a client pays with PayPal or Mal's, they go to a third party website to enter their billing information. But with Authorize.net, they stay at your website for the entire payment process. This is usually perceived as being a little more professional.

>  Content Creation

Your website comes with an administrative system that allows you to easily edit the website's content (words and pictures). If you can use a word processor, you should be able to place all your initial content into your website yourself. Or email it to us and we'll take it out of your included support time (see Extra Training, Support, or Data Entry Time above).

If you need help with creating content from scratch, our hourly $75 rate will be charged.

>  Custom Logo

A nice logo doesn't just express your business sensibility, it can inform the look of your whole website. If you already have a logo, Valued Websites is happy to use it. Or we can create a basic text-only one for $25. Point here for examples.

Or you can get a more "branded" one for an extra fee from a third party. These run anywhere from $100 to $1000 -- usually around $250. These more expensive ones will look more refined and will come with everything you need to print envelopes, business cards, and letterhead. Valued Websites can coordinate with you in having this created.

>  Custom Visual Design (Overall Look)

In order to keep prices low, Valued Websites packages come with a range of included visual design choices (see gallery). If you don't like any of our included templates, you may choose one of these options below for an additional fee:

  • 3rd PARTY TEMPLATE
    If you want a different look but don't want to spend too much, you can get a third-party website template for free here ^, or around $50 to $100 from TemplateMonster.com ^ or any other template seller. These are often very good looking, if a bit generic, and we can customize them with your color, picture, and font choices.
  • CUSTOM
    If you want a website that perfectly matches your business and looks like no other, we can provide a custom visual design for our $75/hr rate (usually runs in the range of $400 to $600). Or hire your own third party designer to provide us with a look for your site.

There will be an additional $75/hr fee to integrate any 3rd party or custom template into a Valued Websites package. This usually ends up being between $75 and $250 unless your design is uncommonly complicated.

>  Domain Name (i.e. yourwebsite.com)

You have two options: you can register your own domain name or Valued Websites can register it for you.

In order for you to own your website's domain name, you should register it yourself. Valued Websites recommends Moniker.com ^ for registering domain names. They charge around $10 a year and are a solid company. Just be careful about the multitude of services they offer in addition to domain name registration. Don't buy hosting or email services from them. Just the domain name. If you want privacy services, that might reduce some spam so that might be worth buying.

Avoid 1and1.com, RegisterFly.com and NetworkSolutions.com. How to choose a good domain name. If we register your domain name for you, we will charge $25/year per domain name (another reason for you to do it yourself).

You can also try out the site with no domain name (just a string of random numbers that we'll assign to you), and then add the name later.

>  Extra Hard Drive Space

Hard drive space is used to store website and appraiser files, email that hasn't been read yet, and reports meant for the client.

Your website will come with 500 megabytes of hard drive space. 500 megabytes (half a gigabyte) is typically enough for a busy office of three appraisers. Roughly speaking, once your website is processing more than 500 orders per year, it might be time to upgrade to more disk space.

You can upgrade to another 500 megabytes (a total of 1 gigabyte) for an extra $99 per year, or to UNLIMITED disk space for an extra $199 per year. With the unlimited disk space option, there is a limit of 250,000 individual files stored on the server -- emails, website files, client reports -- if you need more please contact us for an estimate.

The default time to allow clients to download their reports is two weeks. After that, the reports (but not the orders) are deleted from the system to make room for new reports. You can increase this time period by adding hard drive space. With the unlimited disk space option, it might be possible to never delete any reports.

Hard drive space can always be upgraded when the need arises.

>  Extra Training, Support, or Data Entry Time

You get 1 (ValuedBASIC) or 2 hours (ValuedCOMPLETE) of included support time per year. We'll use up this time for data importing, content formatting, or changing colors or pictures before we charge you extra.

The training and support clock starts ticking when your site draft is ready for content entry. After the included 1 or 2 hours, training and support will be charged at $3.75 per 3 minutes ($75/hr).

The site is very easy to use with lots of contextual help balloons, and there are several online tutorials and help files to get you going. Most companies who use one of our standard templates do not go over their included support time.

>  List Properties for Sale or Rent

With the optional Properties Module ($97/yr), you'll have a full-featured property listing solution integrated with your appraiser website. Unlimited agents and listings. Multiple pictures, virtual tour link, flyers, and featured listing.

No other website package on the market provides appraisal functions and property listing functions at so low a cost. More info.

>  More Than 10 Appraisers

First 10 appraisers included. Each additional appraiser who gets an order within a particular month is $2/month extra. Appraisers who do not get orders within a month will not cost extra.

So if you have 15 appraisers and 10 of them get orders within a particular month, there is no extra charge. If you have 15 and 15 get orders within a particular month, then the extra charge for that month is $10.

>  Non-Package Features (i.e. Custom Programming)

If you need features that don't come with either the ValuedBASIC or the ValuedCOMPLETE package, pretty much anything you can think of can be added. If it's likely to be useful to some of our other clients, then it won't cost extra unless you need it soon. If you need the custom features and are unwilling to wait possibly several months, our $75/hr rate will apply.
